hobbies

lately olivia has been loving a few things...

#1- yes, this would be the push car thing that we got her for her birthday in july that we still have not put together. i am feeling more pathetic than i thought i would as i type this. in our defense, we cannot find adam's drill anywhere and it is definitely a required tool in putting this bad boy together. and hey, she doesn't know what she's missing right? for now she thinks it's pretty fun to rock around in it and honk the horn. it's great seating for dora viewings, too.

#2- she is also obsessed with puzzles. she is definitely known to be seen carrying a piece around for extended periods of time, as seen here.

#3- she has also taken up coloring. she has a special notebook for this activity, but apparently coloring in one of her books (on every page) is much more fun! it's pretty funny to watch her color...she leans over the paper really far and looks at what she's doing.. so either i do that sometimes and don't notice, or she's blind and needs to zero in a little on the important pictures she is drawing!

labor day fun

so on labor day morning, we decided to knock out some fun early and go to breakfast downtown and feed the ducks at the lake after. we were going to make it a party and ride the swan boats, but they didn't open till noon. oh well. olivia had never done the duck feeding thing, so it was pretty funny.

needless to say olivia did not share one pinch of bread with the ducks...but she did enjoy eating hers while she watched all the wildlife adam was luring in with his. happy labor day!

ra ra rarara

well, in honor of the byu v. oklahoma game tomorrow (for which adam has already gone in to a deep combo of anxiety/depression), i thought i'd get our little cheerleader ready. her cousins gave this to her for christmas last year and i think it just about fits! she was not sure what to think of it. i guess she is now a true floridian because anytime i put long sleeves on her, she rubs her arms nonstop and gives me this confused look..."what are these things you call sleeves??!"

"what, the binky isn't a good look with this outfit?"

"give that back right now!! this is NOT cute!!"

"ok, i'll pretend to be nice if you just give it back."

"okay, now i can practice my cheers even if i look kind of like a boy with a mullet and a pink hair clip in these shots."

go cougars! we are also headed to UT on the 14th so i'll have to bring this get up along. much to adam's dismay/jealousy (he's not going), our trip falls on the byu v. fsu game.... this little scaredy cat will NOT be making it to the game (think loud horns and lots of cougar growls at piercing decibels... she would FREAK), but maybe she can wear this that day anyway.

playgroup was at the splash pad this week....last time we went olivia was NOT in to it. she was too scared. this time, she was having fun, but in the most cautious way possible. it's an improvement!

i kept trying to trick her with that ball by rolling it into the middle when the water was on full speed, but she was not having it. she would wait until the water died down a little and sprint in to retrieve her toy. what a mean mom.

we found out yesterday that there will be a little sister joining olivia in january. now i can feel completely justified in everything i've ever purchased for olivia, right? it'll be worn by 2 people! i was being frugal and i didn't even know it.

MJ's

friday night we took olivia to monkey joe's for the first time. it's one of those places that has a ton of inflatable bouncy things, slides, etc. we met up with her cousins coleman and mckinley since they frequent the MJs and could lend olivia some of their expertise. she loved it! she is a bit of a scaredy cat, but she took off as soon as i put her in the first little tunnel. it was hard to keep up with her and hoisting little tots up the "stairs" to get to the top of the slides is no easy task! adam was happy to let me take that on. next time maybe i'll wear workout clothes!

odds & ends

you know you're a reality tv junkie when.....

your husband really needs (wants) you to come look at something on the computer, but you're realllly comfortable where you're at, so to convince you to come he says, "abbie... you have to come.. tori & dean are getting divorced!!!" (for the record, i knew he was lying, but did google to just double check it later on. the reality couple curse is bound to catch up with them sooner or later, right?)

you know your baby is not happy to be having "diaper issues" when....

she scowls at you in her sleep. and looks like a monster with her crazy hair. and yes she's sleeping with no sheet, in her regular clothes. monday was a rough day.
